Join us in our in the next of our popular series, Conversations with an Artist. This time, we will interview Arts India US Mentor Artist and acclaimed Carnatic violinist and educator, Arun Ramamurthy, about creativity and balance within the Indian classical arts diaspora in the United States. Among many other things, we'll learn about how Arun balances the various spaces in which he and his art reside -- on the stage, in the classroom, and even with a diversity of different artists and genres.

Root and Reach Workshop
Using Design Thinking to Connect with Your Audience
Through a one-hour pilot workshop, Arts India US administrators discussed with participants on how to bring design thinking into the creative process. Using a sample creative brief, the group participated in a structured discussion to refine an idea to remain relevant to today's times while also staying true to time-tested traditions. This session is a part of a program in development by the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard. We will continue to host these workshops, iterating on past versions. We heard from Lavanya Rajagopalan from Silambam Houston about her journey in gradually becoming a competitive grant winner over the years. Emerging artists from around the country gathered to hear Sree Srinivasan, an NYC-based expert in digital communications lead them through strategies of telling their own authentic story on various social media platforms. Sree is CEO and Co-founder of Digimentors, a social/digital/AI training and consulting company. He served as Chief Digital Officer of New York City, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Columbia University, where he was also a full-time professor of journalism for over 20 years.
