Programs

Our programs are focused on providing emerging Indian classical artists with the tools and network to thrive as professionals in the United States. From connecting them to mentors and presenting organizations to helping them use related technology and learn about entrepreneurship, we aim to be helpful at every stage in an artist's professional journey.

1 / Business Skills

Entrepreneurship, marketing, and grant-writing are vital concepts that help artists become self-sustaining entities in the long-run.  However, as a part or full-time artist, it is difficult to trade-off practice/performance time for the acquisition of these skills. Our workshops and seminars, led by experts, are focused deep-dives designed to fill these gaps in a stress-free way.

2 / Resource Hub

Searching for funding and performance opportunities can be extremely time consuming.  We have compiled a catalog of opportunities specifically suited to Indian classical performing artists.  Through our platform, learn about and share opportunities available specifically to Indian classical performing artists.

3 / Design Thinking

As classical artists, it is especially important to give focus to relevance and connection to the audience.  Our Root and Reach workshops use Design Thinking as the backbone for re-thinking the creative process. These sessions are part of a larger initiative at the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University to develop a Creative Accelerator that helps South Asian classical artists connect more deeply with modern audiences while staying rooted in tradition.

1 / Mentorship

Part of what helps sustain the growth and success of a community is the sharing of knowledge.  Through our mentorship program, we encourage seasoned artists to share their insights and perspectives on issues that current emerging artists may be facing.  Meet our Mentor Artists and check out our Events page to see our latest interviews with them.  We are currently constructing a more formal mentorship program that will allow for 1:1 matching between emerging and seasoned artists.

3 / Advocacy & Awareness

As part of our larger vision of elevating and amplifying the presence and perception of Indian classical performing art forms in the United States, we seek to create opportunities for these artists where they may not currently exist.  Learn more about how we work with mainstream presenting organizations to create more awareness of Indian classical genres and match artists for performance opportunities.

4 / Presenter Roundable

The presenting of Indian classical performing arts occurs across the United States primarily through organizations led by passionate volunteers.  We help connect these organizations and leaders to address common issues, share institutional knowledge, and make commitments to support emerging U.S. artists.  Contact us if you would like to join our next discussion and check out our Events page to see updates on our past discussions.
